Hi, I’m Lela, the owner and operator of Lucky Horse Sitting.

Animals have been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with horses and now dedicate myself full-time to their care, working with everything from top-level performance horses, stallions and broodmares to young horses and paddock companions. My involvement in yearling sales, assisting with preparation, handling, and presentation, has further sharpened my eye for detail and deepened my understanding of condition, soundness, and behaviour.

This experience has taught me not only how to meet each horse’s individual needs, but also how much trust it takes to leave your animals in someone else’s care.

I founded Lucky Horse Sitting in 2021 to give owners genuine peace of mind, the ability to step away for a weekend, a family trip, or simply some well-earned downtime, knowing their animals are receiving attentive, knowledgeable, and reliable care.

My skills extend beyond routine stable duties to include medication administration, injury and lameness monitoring, emergency preparedness, foal handling, and maintaining structured feeding programs. I’m adaptable and respectful of each property’s systems, routines, and standards, understanding that consistency is key for both horses and owners. I bring professionalism, attention to detail, and a calm, confident approach, shaped by years of hands-on experience with horses and running my own business.

Having attended an agricultural school, I also experience with cattle, and other farm animals, giving me a well-rounded understanding of animal husbandry and property care. I also love dogs and cats and will care for pretty much any four legged animal!

At Lucky Horse Sitting we value professionalism, communication, and attention to detail. Every horse is cared for with the same level of capability, consistency, and compassion, treated as if they were my own.
