Hi, I’m Lela, the owner and operator of Lucky Horse Sitting.

Animals have been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with horses and have since dedicated myself to their care, working with everything from top-level performance horses, stallions and broodmares to young horses and paddock companions.

My professional experience across stud farms, competition stables and yearling sales has sharpened my eye for detail and deepened my knowledge of horse handling, injury and illness, and the importance of understanding each horse as an individual. This experience has taught me not only how to meet each horse’s individual needs, but also how much trust it takes to leave your animals in someone else’s care.

I founded Lucky Horse Sitting in 2021 to give owners genuine peace of mind — the freedom to step away for a weekend, take a family holiday, or simply enjoy some well-earned time away, knowing their animals and property are receiving attentive, knowledgeable and reliable care.

My experience extends beyond routine stable duties to include medication administration, injury and lameness monitoring, emergency preparedness, foal handling, and working with anxious or young horses. I am adaptable and respectful of each property’s systems, routines and standards, understanding that consistency is key for both horses and owners.

Alongside horses, I have experience caring for cattle and other farm animals, as well as dogs and cats. I understand that every property and every animal has its own routine, and I take the time to learn what makes each one comfortable and well cared for.

At Lucky Horse Sitting, I value professionalism, communication and attention to detail. Every animal is cared for with the same level of capability, consistency and compassion, and every property is treated with the same respect I would expect for my own.
